NEW ALBUM - Malos Huesos

An original collection of blues rock songs with a lowdown and dirty groove, and a dark and sexy version of the 1928 St. James Infirmary Blues. The album features high-octane blues rockers to low dirty ballads.

The album was recorded the summer of 2015 in a palapa (palm frowned hut) in La Bufadora, Punta Banda Baja California Mexico with a laptop, condenser mic and both Mexican and American musicians passionate about the blues. And although not all the musicians had the same spoken language, all the musicians did

Laying Down Some Sax and Tequila

When Louis Armstrong blew his brass on his version of St. James Infirmary, we knew we wanted some killer brass on our version, so we enlisted our good friend Phillip Singletary and his tenor saxophone. We had saved the last two tracks on our forthcoming album MALOS HUESOS for Phillip.

Phillip asked if we had a little something to loosen up, and wet his whistle. We didn't so I ran over to Oxxo and got a fifth of Jose Cuervo Especial. Needless to say, the whistle got wet and we laid down some killer sax tracks and a bottle of tequila. I think St. James Infirmary almost put Phillip into the San Felipe infirmary, or at least his wife Nikki almost did when he got home.

Pure Joy and Gift to Play

We always enjoy playing, but it is pure joy and gift to play for people that go out of their way to come see you. What a awesome bunch of folks at La Marina De Baja Cove last night, Aug 15, 2015. We even learned how to play Swapmeet Blues in Espanol...or rather "azules de tianguis" Thank you Patty Rodriguez for taking the photos.

Blues and Booze Bash

We are extremely excited that all our new and old friends can kick off their blues weekend the BLUES & BOOZE BASH a day earlier at The Lighthouse Sports Bar and Restaurant in La Mision. The blues weekend just went from 3 days to 4 days, so come on out an join the fun! You can never have too much blues! Wild Pack will be playing from 6-9PM, come listen to some blues with bite and kickoff your Rosarito blues weekend with a bash!

Great Crowd and Fun Group

Rachel took a couple of pictures of Oscar and I getting ready for the show at La Marina on Saturday night...IT WAS A BLAST!! We rocked the place, or bluesed it in this case...either way loads of fun and good people. We had one of the best compliments EVER...an older couple from the area that pretty much danced the entire night, then came to us after and said we were the best thing they'd seen in 18 years (apparently that is how long they lived in the area). They were a hoot! Even their names were fun, his name was Mike and her name was Mike, not making this up. He kept telling me about a television commercial with motorcycles and music that said Ah ha ha ha...very blues, sounded like something John Lee Hooker would do, don't know what it was but it was funny talking to him about it. Anyways, another fun night.

First Gig in Paradise

Last night - Aug 12, 2015 was our first show at Paradise Cove Tiki Bar & Grill and we had a wonderful time, started slow and built up, just like we like it. Thanks Jeanne Pepler for having us. It was great to meet Franny for the first time. Its cool to meet someone for the first time and they know all about you from Facebook. Franny said I was a "great Facebooker". Sorry Franny we didn't get to meet your friend, however I did see her bobbing her head at the bar wink emoticon. It was also terrific to see our musicians friends Eloy Miron and Ed Torriente, thanks for the compliments guys, always good to be appreciated by other musicians. Hope to see you Saturday. Dennis and Maureen Minehan come out to see us too, which was very nice, because we had a chance to chat during our breaks. We also found out Dennis knows his blues! Thanks for coming to support us at our new venue, we hope to see you all again. Thanks to everyone that was there, we had a great time and really look forward to next Wednesday. By the way, for all you hamburger lovers....Dennis said the burger was the best anywhere in northern Baja and he knows his burgers!

Love My Mama Bears!

Mama Bears was great. We just love this place, the customers are very nice, and always incredible tippers...truly amazing, more than any other place we have ever played. Plus the owners Tina and Joanie are way cool and the staff are too. Next week is their last week and the new owners will be taking over...and they too seem very cool. I know one of them Cort is already cooking all the pizza and he is really a nice guy, very laid back bunch. When we were done, Tina got so excited she even picked up Rachel wink emoticon Our good friend Phillip Singletary joined us on his sax, plus other San Felipe friends Marilyn, JC and NickiNomi and local friends too. Oh and of course, the food is amazing...we even have our own pizza, now called the "veggie cracker", veggie pizza with red sauce, and no cheese and added garlic. Ate two of them last night yum!

I Love The Blues

I LOVE THE BLUES. I have been a promoter my entire life, promoted my first festival at 19 and never stopped, more than 30 years later and literally hundreds of concerts later, none of the music or concerts I produced changed my life, other than to put food on the table.

Until 10 years ago, when my wife Rachel and I were asked to help promote the San Felipe Blues Festival, back in 2007. Then we were asked to help start another blues festival in Rosarito Beach Baja. 8 years we were involved in promoting blues festivals. Then 2 years ago, on the suggestion of two wonderful musician friends of ours, Pancho and Sal Pace, we started performing blues ourselves.

I never would have thought a music that was in its prime before I was born, would alter my life and my own future in such a profound way.

Thank you to all the musicians and especially the blues musicians that we have come to know and love, you have brought much passion and joy into our lives and have changed our lives forever.

Thanks to Maureen Minehan

Thanks to Maureen Minehan and her trusty phone, she captured a couple short vids of us jamming last night. Here we are playing a Wild Pack original called "Keep Getting Better". It is always fun to jam jam and let the other musicians kick butt all around! So much fun...and great bunch of musicians. Thanks for a wonderful experience.

Aqui en el Siete - Thank you

Rachel and I make it a point of living life to the fullest, we try and make every moment an adventure. However, this summer was more about fun than adventure and I must say it has been absolutely incredible and we have got to know the Pacific Baja better than ever before. We've been very knowledgeable about the area, but that is not knowing the area, not until you get to know the people.

This summer we got to know some really wonderful people, and got reacquainted with many others. We need to thank George at the Lighthouse Restaurant in La Mision, thanks for the great times at your place. You know how to party. We need to thank Joanie and Tina, and Kim, Chris, Court, Pris, and John at Mama Bear's Pizza,

We Rocked Rosarito Beach!

Thank you for all that came out; we had a wonderful time Saturday, Sept 26, 2015 for the Blues Against Hunger Benefit Concert on the Palapa Patio at PARADISE COVE TIKI BAR, Km 36 Rosarito Beach, BC Hosted by (us) Wild Pack and featuring ATM Band and The Baja Barrocho Allstars.

It was really cool to see Blues maestro Chet Cannon with his lovely wife Mary show up to our Rosarito Beach Blues Against Hunger Concert on Saturday - Sept 26, 2015. What a fun day, with a great turn out and lots of friends including Maureen Minehan, Franny Morris, Craig Klein, Dick Cadger and Kathy Thompson all the way from San Felipe and guitar builder extraordinaire Steve Kinney, that gave me an opportunity to play his custom "Crossroads" guitar. Thanks to everyone that came out and enjoyed the party and help thoses in need. A personal thanks also to our friends and great musicians in ATM Band for opening the show and jamming with us to close the show; and thanks to Bart Berry and Holly Avila for showing these talents with us. Sara Vega of 'Sara en Movimiento A.C.' thank you for all the help and ensuring the people that need to the food get it and of course Jeanne Pepler and Paradise Cove Tiki Bar & Grill. We had a great few months with you and this was a great way to have a final show. Thanks everyone!

Wild Pack with saxophonist Phillip Singletary Tonight

Amazing saxophonist PHILLIP SINGLETARY of the Suns of Beaches will be joining us tonight in his last opportunity to play with us before heading home. We are looking forward to lots of WILD PACK WEDNESDAY Winners and lots of good fun. Tonight is going to be a blast.

Blues Against Hunger Record Night!

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! PUNTA BANDA: Rachel and I would like to thank EVERYONE for a very successful BLUES AGAINST HUNGER CONCERT event on Sept 5, 2015 at La Marina Resturant in Punta Banda BC. The food donations were incredible, even 100lb. bag of beans and 100lb. bag of rice. We can't thank you all enough. We are also pleased to say, it was the all time record night for La Marina Restaurant.

Thank you to Judy, Ryan, Luis, Lobo, Jorge and all the folks at La Marina for providing the venue and ESPECIALLY A BIG THANK YOU for the $3270 pesos donation to purchase additional food. And for the complimentary drinks to the bands all night.

Thank you Patty Rodriguez for helping us with event and taking on the responsibility of getting the food to those in most need within the community. Your help and support is immeasurable.

Thank you to Fred Solo for his support, and all the wonderful musicians in the Tsunami band, and ATM band that shared the stage with us and kept the booties shaken all night long. You all made it the party of the summer, and together we will improve the lives of others. Muchas gracias to all!

Malos Huesos (Bad Bones) CD

We are really excited, tomorrow - Sept. 2, 2015 we will start recording our first CD entitled "Malos Huesos" (Bad Bones)" (Here at Seven),

Our current drummer Oscar Quiñones will be recording with us. We are planning for the CD to have 11-12 songs. We'll see how it goes, we will be recording every day this week. All originals and one blues/jazz song from 1923 called Saint James Infirmary.

Strung Junk Crossroad Guitar

I (Sixx) had the privilege of playing a original one of a kind "Crossroad" guitar. Our friend Steve Kinney, the guitar maker from Strung Junk drove all the way to Punta Banda from Rosarito Beach on Friday to watch us perform at La Marina and was cool enough to bring his original "Crossroads" guitar, with the Highway 61 and 49 signs on either side. Very cool sounding guitar with a single, single coil vintage Harmony pickup. Played it an entire set and really enjoyed the feel. - SEE MORE PHOTOS -

BLUES HISTORY - Crossroads being the place where famed blues guitarist "Robert Johnson" allegedly sold his soul to the devil...it was where HWY 61 and HWY 49 cross in Clarksdale Mississippi. Here is a little about Robert Johnson

Band Rehearsal

Rehearsal time again, here is Rachel posing with our gear during a rehearsal break at our summer retreat. - SEE PHOTOS -

Jamming Out!

We had a wonderful time jamming last night (Aug 20, 2015) at The Lighthouse in La Mision. It was a terrific lineup of musicians from left to right: Oscar Quiñones on drums, Fred Soto on harmonica, Phillip Singletary on saxophone, John B Packon vocals, rhythm and lead guitar, Rachel Pack on vocals and bass, Ferreyra Cruz Noema on keyboard, and Juan Carlos on lead guitar.

I LOVE SUSHI

Anyone that knows me (Sixx), knows I LOVE SUSHI! I would go so far as to give up all others foods if only I had an endless supply of sushi. Last night I had a wonderful SURPRISE!

Paradise Cove Tiki Bar & Grill where we played have ahi tuna sushi rolls that are out of this world. They were amazing, the fish was delicious and the flavors were addictive. Rachel and I had one each, and one more each for the ride home....and a side order of french fries - maybe not the greatest combo platter, but damn they were good...the fries were battered and season to perfection. In any case, Rachel and I are very excited about Wild Pack Wednesdays at Paradise Cove, because for us it's going to be Sushi (and french fries) Day Wednesday!

Love Mama Bears!

When we were done, Tina got so emotional she even picked up Rachel off her feet.

Really Great Crowd All Night

Last night, Friday - July 31, 2015; at La Marina in Punta Banda was a really great crowd all night; every table taken, every barstool taken, and the outside patio full too. fun blues lovin' group. Rachel, Oscar and I had lots of fun. Oh yah, and before we played the restaurant served us a very nice blackened yellowtail tuna with the best organic summer green salad I have ever been served in Mexico. Great night all the way around. Thank you to everyone that attended and Teresa Martinez for taken the pictures.

Giggin' at Mama Bears

Rachel and I getting ready for our weekly gig at Mama Bears. This is the coolest place; the staff are awesome, the food is the best, and the customers are the coolest. We have our groupies that come each week to see us.

Plus, we talked them into two pizzas as part of our pay...1 pizza when we get there and 1 pizza to take home when we're done.

Oh yah baby! - SEE Photos!

Blues with a Bite!

Wild Pack Blues Band had a great time at La Marina Restaurant, July 24, 2015 from 6-9PM. We have  the place dancing partying to our real blues with a bite!

Testimonials

We are a musical duo with South American roots, based in Vancouver, Canada. We discovered John and Rachel in May 2013, and it did not take long for us to figure out that this couple have a long history of successful events and are hard workers with endless energy.

We joined them to help with a few projects and in turn they helped us to become known in the San Felipe community promoting and organizing some shows with us. Focus in positive actions, like recycling, music and fun social events entertains their own club members and brings the community together in a big way. Huge supporters of other artists, John and Rachel are what we call “a golden asset where ever they may be.”Definitely, we will return to join them in any new project they are involved in because they are fun and creative. If you are in Mexico or any place in the world, you can contact John and Rachel with any questions and be assured they will have the right answers and solutions. We are forever grateful to have met them.

Rachel and John Pack are a most industrious couple. Together we developed, promoted and marketed a music and cultural event in San Felipe, Baja California Mexico.

Designed to encourage both Mexican and American/Canadian guests for an afternoon of music, ethnic food and friendship, the Baja Latin Fest was an overwhelming success specifically because of the Pack’s business and promotional expertise. They obtained a major sponsorship with one of the largest beverage distributors in Mexico. They developed and delivered a food menu with specialties from Central and South America. They selected and coordinated all the entertainers, scheduled their housing accommodations, performance times, transport and food needs. They handled security, show set up and take down. The handled the sound and staging systems. They did it all and it was a huge success.

Their knowledge of Baja and the associated governmental offices was critical to the presentation of the show and really helped with finding governmental funds to assist in promoting the Fest. Their reliability, high ethics and honesty make dealing with them a real pleasure.

I had the pleasure of meeting John and Rachel Pack many years ago and working with them on various community and promotional projects, by far the largest was the San Felipe Lions Club Blues & Arts Events. In 2009 I was the President of the San Felipe Lions Club and John and Rachel Pack worked with the club in various capacities, primarily as event promoters, marketing directors, talent acquisition and technical advisers. We basically relied on them to pull off the most monumental event that San Felipe had ever seen, and we were all successful. The Packs knowledge and expertise may be unparalleled in promoting unique events and sites. I highly recommend them to anyone considering or planning an event or community function.
