Craft brewers & blues lovers are united to help fight hunger in America over the next 6-months; starting in June 2017 - November 2017. The way the event works is SIMPLE! We bring a party to a brewery creating free blues concerts inviting all that attend to bring non-perishable food donations that stays with the local food bank. With your help, we bring craft beer lovers and blues fans together to help feed the hungry. We create a special night with celebrity guests musicians and jammers to play the BLUES with the host band "Sweet Sixx and The Wild Pack" to raise food for the community.
We've a spent 16 amazing and adventuresome years together. We've traveled the continent, walked the entire Baja, produced lots of great events, helped a lot of people and now we're playing the blues and feeding the hungry. We're blessed to have each other and to be able to share our passion.Sweet Packhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02376360858406200244noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2815802677283800025.post-16134668817382146542017-10-01T15:26:00.001-07:002017-10-01T15:26:27.341-07:00Road Report - The Fall is Coming Quick in Colorado

Colorado has been incredible, but it is really getting cold. The last few weeks have been incredible. We've found an incredible boondocking location. Helped launch a brand new brewery, and got frozen inside our RV. Why would anyone live any other way?

Once we finished our show at Lazy Boy Brewing in Everett Washington, we headed east through Washington and Idaho with some awesome shows and one our latest in terms of time in Idaho Falls...way past my bedtime ;-). Wyoming was open and beautiful before heading south into Colorado. We stopped at Rabbit Ears Pass above Steamboat Springs at about 9700 feet. It was breathtaking, literally. The first night I woke a couple times feeling as if I were having a panic attack. It turned out to be due to altitude sickness, which we quickly figured out. Then the next morning it started to snow! - We were out of there! We stopped in Steamboat Springs for a dispensary (medicinal) and a local taco shack called TACO CABO. The owner was actually from Jalisco Mexico, but he was cool and let us fill our fresh water tanks from his restaurant, but as a side note...it was the most expensive taco I've had in my life and it didn't come with rice, beans or nada. I think they were $5 each and I had...well that's not important. What's more important is how this week went down - it was all meant to be.

This is a picture of "Hotdog" and its H4 owner
and young future farmer.

Last night we played a great show at The Grand Adventure Brewing Company, formerly the Mountain Bar & Grill. They were roasting a 4H pig named "Hotdog", which was purchased by the new brewery owner Rick. The event was going to be a big deal for him, the brewery and the town. This was Wednesday and the event would be next Saturday.

On Tuesday, we found from one of our favorite boondocking site "Campendium.com" about Williams Fork. We had two weeks between gigs, our longest time off since we left on June 14. We found the Williams Fork Reservoir near Kremmling Colorado. We could stay 14 days with no fees and they had a dump station and fully developed sites with fire pits, tables, bathrooms, and garbage pickup. There were two campgrounds, a West and an East, so we decided to spend a week at each (the pictures give you some idea of the area).

On this Wednesday we had gone into a local coffee shop called Big Shooters for coffee, tea and the use of their Wifi. When I went to order, I asked the 3 ladies at the counter if there was live music in town. The two ladies behind the counter said no, almost in stereo, but the lady customer in line beside me said, "yes, we just had two bands at the Road Kill Supper on Saturday". So, I continued the questioning and asked if there were any place with live bands we could go see. They all agreed no, but the lady beside me turned out to be Shelley from the Chamber of Commerce, said I could ask Tom, The Mayor sitting at the table behind me with about 4-6 other men chatting. I said thanks, strolled over to the table and was allowed to interrupt. I introduced myself and asked Tom the same question I asked the ladies. He told me "unfortunately no". So, I asked if a city permit was needed to perform live music; it is very common almost everywhere. Again he replied, "No, not in our little town.". I asked, "then what business in town would be the best place for music?" and he said "go see Rick at the new brewery across the park from the coffee shop. This turned out to be one of the easiest gigs we ever got. Rick said yes within minutes. The next stop was the Chamber of Commerce office to see Shelly, which was literally across the park to from the brewery. Shelly gave us contacts including the phone number one of the drummers from the Road Kill Supper and then made a phone call and sent me over to the local newspaper office to get interviewed, the newspaper office was also at the park. Bingo, bango, bongo! Within in an hour, we had a gig, city support, and newspaper coverage. Then they ran a story in the newspaper for the 2 weeks and put the show on the city billboard in front of the Chamber of Commerce office on the main street. Our job was done.

We spent the next 10 days along the shore with our girls, playing music beside the fire and exploring the area. Last night was the show and it was packed. Hotdog the pig was good too. Our drummer was Don O'Hoto, a local grandfather, and a retired miner. He also invited a guitarist named Lee, that showed up without any instrument or anything. But after jamming a song or two with us on my second guitar decided to run home and get his own gear and jam some more. He said, "I only live 2 minutes away...I'll be right back". We had a really great show.

Now, it is Sunday and we are trying to figure out what to do. It is getting colder and started dropping snow outside the window. This last Monday night we were frozen inside the RV. In the morning the front door was frozen shut. We had to wait until the sun came all the way up and Rachel chiseled from the inside with a knife. The days have been in the 60's and 70's, so not bad at all, very beautiful, but the mornings are getting damn cold. Now in the last few days, it has been raining and today they tell us it is going to snow this afternoon and tonight and we have a pass to cross.

This Friday we play in Edwards Colorado at Crazy Mountain Brewing Company near the ski resort Vail. The pass is nearly 11,000 feet, and have not been looking forward to going over it, especially if there is snow or ice. We found two alternate routes the locals gave us. The first is Trough Road, apparently, it cuts through the canyons without the huge pass, but the first 15 miles are not paved. But it will save us lots of time, avoid the pass and it supposed to be very very beautiful. But, then this morning while filling our propane tank, the service guy suggest Gore Pass, which he says "is hardly a pass" and only adds a few extra miles, and it's all paved. That's the way we're going of course. So, tonight we've decided to sit and assess the weather in the morning.

We have a few more days off, then we get busy again and will be heading south towards home. We have the show in Edwards of Friday, Oct 6, then in Denver at Crazy Mountain Brewing on Saturday, Oct 7, and then in Albuquerque on the Oct 12...its been 5 months, 7 states, over a hundred musicians, and thousands of meals and the journey continues.
Sixx here, it has been a long few weeks. We were hanging out in Ketchum, Idaho which was fun and beautiful. While wondering the streets there like a couple of tourists, we got lucky and stopped to asked directions from Jeffery Lubeck, a local photographer and partner with his son Kyle in the MESH Gallery in downtown Ketchum. As it turns out, it was the day before Sun Valley WAGON DAYS and he was in need of music for the Weekend long event's opening night Gallery Walk. We jumped at the opportunity. We were even more excited when we found out the building of the MESH is the first Catholic Church built in the valley in 1884 and had a very gothic feel and the ONLY WAY we'd ever get to play in a church.
We had a great time. The art lovers turned out in droves, and truly loved the amazing photography of the mountains surrounding the valley, primarily shot by Jeffery and Kyle. We played non-stop for 2-hours straight on acoustics instruments only (through pedals and PA) and no vocals, it was just total improve for 2 hours - WE LOVED IT. It was also great because it came with a nice cash payout, all the IPA and wine we wanted a couple nice filets of white fish and a 1.5lb (wannabe Santa Maria style) tri-tip, which was really nice - craziest payday so far, but it was great and we ate well that week.

The show at Sun Valley Brewing in Hailey Idaho on the 7th was terrific. We were able to raise at least 200lbs of food and an incredible bunch of musicians joined us; 3 harp players including Don that played with us in Los Barriles Mexico two years prior, 3 drummers including Marty we hired from Twin Falls, who could not only play the drums but turned out to be a helluva bass player too. We also had 2 other guitar players other than myself, Scott and Hart and OMG were they good - both guitar teachers. The Sun Valley Brewery is a wonderful venue and we have already been asked to come back. The 44's, The Supersuckers, and Agent Orange all play there on tour too, which is great because and I'm a fan of all those bands.

The next morning, we drove the 160 miles to Idaho Falls, to play at The Celt Pub & Restaurant on the 8th. It was an equally fantastic show, in a gorgeous old building that was long and narrow and made it a great music venue. The food at this place is awesome and the servings are too big to eat in one sitting, at least mine was. The jam was a lot of fun, and not only did we raise a good amount of food (didn't get a rough weight), but also raised nearly $100 in cash the food bank will use to purchase more. Local superstar Vince Bellon of "Mean Red Spyder" joined us and played a full set and boy he could play and he had a custom tube amp with a tone to die for. At the end of the night, rock vocalist Austin Hadley of the band "MirrorrorriM" sang B.B. King's "The Thrill is Gone" and knocked it out of the park! The crowd loved it! Didn't sound like B.B. or even the way I sing it, it was totally different and very good. I think B.B. would have appreciated it himself.

Also, a quick update on the Blues Against Hunger Compilation CD - it is coming along amazingly. We currently have over 15 tunes from 15 of the most amazing artists we've performed with over the course of the 2017 Blues Against Hunger Tour. We are looking to make the CD available to all Blues Against Hunger supporters; jammers, those that make donations of food, and patrons of the Blues Against Hunger that donates $1 or more.

We stopped at Tulalip Resort Casino in Marysville Washington for a couple of days and they gave both Sweet and I a $15 game play on our new member cards. Although we lived in Las Vegas for a while we never gambled, ever. Don't even know how to operate the slot machine...we got an attendant to teach us and show us how it worked. Then the attendant jokingly said they'll be back in 10 minutes when we hit the jackpot, then they walked off. Sweet inserted her card and on the second push of the button, she won over $150. We immediately cashed out and went to the bar for an IPA Glass of wine and share a spicy tuna roll from the sushi bar all for not much more than the original $15 credit they gave us.

There is a Walmart next door to here, I think we're gonna use the winning to go buy another deep cycle battery or solar panel for the rig. Thanks, Tulalip Casino...Tonight we're going to try again with my member card wish us luck!

P.S. Besides winning our first time out we want to say, this is the nicest Indian Casino we've been to and there has been many. Great RV parking area and all free of charge for up to 3 days. Tomorrow leave for a show in Everett then it's off to Idaho.

The song was originally recorded in Winter 2015 with a condenser mic, laptop in Punta Banda, Baja California, along with drummer Oscar Quiñones Nogueira of Ensenada, then a couple months later we recorded Phillip on sax
with the same setup and the addition of a liter of tequila in a small office in San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico. Phillip recorded the entire song in one take after most of the bottle was empty.

This summer while visiting the beautiful home of a new friend and bassist Cindy "Sis" Mitchel in Corvallis Oregon we became inspired to make a video. We thought this song was perfect for what we had in mind and we've always loved it and Phillip's sax playing. So here you go, our first video.

"St. James Infirmary Blues", sometimes known as "Gambler's Blues," is an American folksong of anonymous origin, though sometimes credited to the songwriter Joe Primrose (a pseudonym for Irving Mills). Louis Armstrong made it famous in his influential 1928 recording.Sweet Packhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02376360858406200244noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2815802677283800025.post-42344002898214589272017-07-28T14:20:00.001-07:002017-07-28T14:20:43.435-07:00Thank you Ashtown Brewery - You are Awesome!
WE LOVE ASHTOWN BREWING in Longview Washington. We played there last night to a great crowd, very engaged. Great atmosphere, great beer, and wonderful people.

The brewery was started by two cousins in their garage, and after a while, people started stopping at the house to get a beer after work. Now they have a great little place downtown and the whole extended family works there, multi-generations.
Not only that but they were all so cool, and so generous. Not only did they pay us an additional 25% of the agreed on amount, but also bought our dinner from the food truck which was INCREDIBLY good and gave us free beer all night and a giant growler to take with us. If you are ever in the area be sure to stop by, fun, friendly people you'll be glad to meet and the beer kicked butt!
When you travel and play as often and as much as we do, it is amazing to find people along the way that have created their own paradise and are willing to share it with us. Sis, a bass player we met at a jam at M. Special Brewing in Goleta invited us to stop and visit her at her home in Corvallis, Oregon. We are so glad we did!

They have given us a much-needed break from the road and a little farm paradise to relax and work on new music and new gigs. Yesterday afternoon Sweet and I had time to take a few shots around the farm.
July 14 - We arrived early to Agrarian Ales at Crossroads in Coburg (video). That's right, at the "Crossroads". Maybe not THE Crossroads, but still pretty cool. Agrarian Ales is a really hip Oregon farm that makes their own ales, grows their own everything. Agrarian Ales is a true farmhouse brewery in the heart of the beautiful Willamette Valley that serves seasonally-inspired, ingredient-driven beer & food. During the summer they host an afternoon of live music on the lawn behind their brewery and kitchen. Today we were the live music and a Brewers & Blues Against Hunger food drive.

As a true farmhouse brewery, Agrarian Ales produces a constantly changing selection of seasonal ales. Using exclusively estate grown hops, chilies, produce, herbs, and well water, their Belgian influenced beers epitomize the name Agrarian, meaning “from the earth”. With the ever-changing tap list of 12 beers in their tasting room, you are bound to find a farm fresh brew to enjoy!

The backyard is a 3-acre beer garden, with lawn, surrounded by tall trees and bamboo. The stage sat directly in front of a large fenced in a forest of bamboo. The Den (our RV) sat opposite the stage behind the bamboo, completely hidden. The stage was a 16' x 12' and covered for shade, unfortunately, at the time we performed the sun was set low enough to ignore the shade altogether and cooked us, well done on one side.
Drummer Dave Roberts from The Blues Owns Band hosted on drums. Blue Own himself joined us today on harmonica and OMG! Blues can play, oh boy, can he play. Wonderful humble man, and so glad to have played with him. We were really excited to have Jimmy Haggard join us on guitar. Jimmy is the current President of the Rainy Day Blues Society of Eugene. Great player, and a really nice guy with great sense of humor. He was able to jam with us the first two sets. Also, joining us for the full set was Leaf, a truly amazing conga and percussionist.

One surprise was when Curt, the security guard from Valley River Center in Eugene where we had boondocked for two days, showed up. He had told Sweet he made cigar box guitars and wanted to know if anyone would be able to play them for him since he didn't know how. Sweet had told him I would play them. I have never played one before and didn't know anything about them, but I was willing to try.
Curt showed up with 4 really beautifully made guitars. I was a little worried about it honestly, but during the break, I heard him play the riff from Mannish Boy by Muddy Waters with a little brass slide. I said, "You know how to play", and he responded, "it's all I know". I asked how he tuned it, he said: "all I know is they're all tuned to G". That was all I needed, Mannish Boy in G. We opened the second set with special surprise guest Curt of his very own custom made cigar box guitar. It was a great jam, and for someone that had never played, he was great and said he has the "best time" and "thanks for helping him do this".

The beautiful thing Agrarian Ales is they grow their own everything. If they themselves don't grow it, then one of their neighbors does. While enjoying an amazing green salad with lots of fresh spring lettuce; Rachel comments to the young man sitting beside her how excited she was about the salad, and he replied: "I grew that". He and his family including a new baby, come enjoy the afternoons there as well. They also serve a full menu of which I enjoyed a delicious brisket sandwich and wonderful fresh dinner salad.
That night after the sun had gone down, and all had left. The farm was quiet and Sweet and I enjoyed a peaceful night sleep behind the bamboo of Agrarian Ales on Crossroads in Coburg Oregon.
July 15 - Today we spent the first 2 hours frustrated after several attempts to get into an RV park, state park, or Lane County park. It was Saturday so all government offices were closed, so no getting reservations. Apparently, everything was full or sold out. We drive to a couple parks only to find "Campground Full".
We finally called Dave Roberts, our drummer from the previous day for some "local advice". He didn't have anything solid but mentioned there was a Sunday jam about 20 miles up the road past Springfield in a little place called Walterville. He said they would probably have a place to park. He gave us the name River Stop Cafe. We Google'd it, and gave them a call. The first lady didn't know anything about parking, so she gave us to the owner Heather. Heather informed us she had "truck parking right out front". We decided why wait until the next day, let's get there early and scope it out.

When we got there we found that Walterville Oregon isn't much more than a parking lot, with the Walterville Post Office, Walterville Market and River Stop Restaurant and Pub, and parking for trucks. We went in, had the very best sweet potato fries we have ever had, two fresh brewed ice teas, pleasant conversation and all for only $11. After which, we checked out the market, purchased an IPA and then we relaxed the rest of the evening and watched a new Star Wars.

July 16 - Today we spent the entire day at Hendricks Bridge Park, a relaxing day of music, walking the girls, and trying to get more gigs. That night we went back to the River Stop, enjoyed a couple of drinks while listening to many locals jam funk, country, little rock. Not really any blues, but the musicians were all really great. I only saw the drummer and the singer change. It seemed they all either played together or knew each other. We sure enjoyed it.

July 17 - Today we knew we were going to see Sis, a bass player that jammed with us back in Goleta, at M. Special Brewing, then again in Ojai at the Deer Lodge a couple days later. She invited us to come visit her in Oregon, so we decided to take her up on it. However, our plan was to get all our necessities out of the way; groceries, dumping our tanks, filling our fresh tank, etc.

After a drive down a long private drive away past several orchards, a large legal marijuana farm, and dispersed between huge pines. We reach Sis' and her husband Jeff's home. A beautiful older home, well maintained and meticulously decorated inside and modestly natural outside with lawn and tall trees. To one side a wide smooth, calm, glassy river with a deceiving current beneath the surface. On the river's edge, they have a floating deck with tables, chairs, and a kayak. On the opposite end of the property is two acres of Jeff's garden of fruits, veggies, and berries. Within moments of arriving, Sweet and Jeff were out picking berries.

After conversation and treats out on the river deck, we had a wonderful evening of conversation, story telling, like we all enjoy doing. Jeff BBQ'd Steelhead salmon their son had caught to perfection, along with an incredible salad, all homegrown. Sis and Sweet enjoyed some Sake, while I enjoyed my IPA, and Jeff enjoyed his favorite fresh berry drink. It is a special feeling to be brought into someone's life. We all pass through life so fast, that most too many of our connections and even relationship become superficial, we never have a chance, or take the time to get past the surface. When we do, it feels good.

July 18 - Sis and Jeff had errands to run today, so Sweet and I spent the day on the RV slab at Sis and Jeff's paradise home working on music, letting dogs run, and trying to get more gigs. It was a really wonderful day so far.

Later today we are going to set up or Bose PA system to show Sis how it works because she is wanting to possibly buy herself one. They have a wonderful barn where Sis wants to set up a jam area for all her musician friends can come and jam, hang out, etc. So, we're gonna test it tonight.

Tomorrow we will be playing as Sweet Sixx, for the first time. We'll be playing a Summer Music Series in the Park in Eugene. It's an hour drive back, but hey, a gigs a gig. Plus, we absolutely love playing as a duo, but rarely get the chance, so we jumped on it. It's only a 2-hour gig from 4-6PM, so this will be fun, easy and probably meet some new people, who knows.

That's it for now. We will keep you in the loop in a couple of days when we know exactly what we're doing. I do know we are playing Ashtown Brewing Company in Longview Washington on July 27, 6:30-9:30 PM and we are playing at The Buffalo Gap in Portland on the July 29, 9:00-Midnight.
Hey everyone, Sweet and I will be coming into Portland through the end of the month. We have two Brewers & Blues Against Hunger events in the area; July 27 in Longview Washington at Ashtown Brewing Company and July 29 at Buffalo Gap Saloon.

As a traveling blues duo, we are always looking for cool interesting people and places off the beaten track, and when possible out of RV Resorts....I did mention we were a blues duo.

Since we have time between shows, we are looking for opportunities to play as a duo; from busking to house parties. We just want to play music as much as we can. On that note, we also want to use the down time to continue work on our new album. We could use a safe place to park a couple of days, to save a few bucks and finish recording.
July 14, 2017 - Eugene Oregon. My last report was nearly a week ago from Brookings Oregon, just after performing the Saturday Market for Chetco Brewing. Since then, we have been moving and staying busy. I've not had the time to sit and write. I don't expect today will be much different, but I am going to start making the time. This has been a week of meeting old friends, making new friends and washing clothes on the fringe in Eugene Oregon.

The older I get, the worse my memory gets. This road diary, or Road Report as we call it, is our way to remember the people and places. Sometimes the timelines in our lives can get mixed up, crossed or forget altogether. We hope to be able to document each day in an effort to keep the story straight.

On July 9, we played the beautiful Brookings Harbor, which was really fun, and we met some really great folks. The sound guy Mark turned out to be a real connector of people and in the short time we were with him, he was non-stop helpful in any way he could, including inviting us to a free Beatles Tribute concert in the park the next day, and we accepted.

July 10 - The Azalea Park in Brookings has a beautiful amphitheatre with enormous stage and grassy hill lined with trees for the audience. It appeared as if it held 800-1500 people and today the place was packed. There was even a car show with a 64' Ford Galaxy 500, the first car I ever owned, ever so briefly. It also turned out to be the first car I ever lost too, thanks to my mom. I guess when she said, "be good or you'll lose it", she meant it.

Sweet and I had a great view for enjoying some Beatles favorites, and looking about the crowd. I noticed someone down in the crowd that looked like our old friend and boxing trainer Jenifer Alcorn from when we lived in Fresno. We had not seen Jenifer in 15 years. Sweet went down to take a closer look. Sure enough it was Jenifer. Then from under a huge umbrella emerges Brad, her husband. an enormous man towering over everyone and former Fresno Police SWAT. Brad was working with us in charge of security at events we produced back in the day. That night we went to their new home they'd recently moved to from Fresno. Jenifer retired as WORLD CHAMPION female boxer and Brad retired from the police force. It was a great night of conversation and storytelling. That night we stayed in the parking lot of a church across the street.

July 11 - We figured we had a couple of days before we had to perform again, so we decided to just find a place to park, get some work done and relax. We searched many of our favorite boondocking sites and thought we found a great park in Cottage Grove outside of Eugene for only $10 per night. When we got there, it was a beautifully maintained campgrounds with full services, but there was no Internet or cell service. So, it wouldn't work for us. We noticed a Walmart on the way to the park and decided to go back there. Turned out to be the busiest Walmart we'd ever stayed at, there were semi trucks, campers, RVs, a pair of matching million dollar Prevost rock star busses, and several folks living in their cars. The next morning we got the last of any needed supplies and we were out of there.

We instead found one of our favorite boondocking locations at the Valley River Center in Eugene. As it turns out, you can stay in their parking lot in the back row for free for up to 2 days. Security came by and checked us in and gave a 2 day stay pass for our window. You're only allows 2 days stay per 6 months. The parking was under giants shade trees, away from cars and traffic, alongside the river with a bike and walking path that went miles in both directions. We parked, practiced music, took the dogs on long walks and caught our breath.

July 12 - Today we found a dog park to let the dogs run, a large self service car wash that we could wash and polish the RV. We also ran an ad on Craigslist the day we arrived and were able to sell an old Fostex MR-8 digital recorder we never use but have carried around for years.

We also found a laundromat we thought we could do some clothes and get on wifi to get more work done. We did get some clothes done, but no wifi. However the small little laundromat was the wildest laundry day to date. There was an entire family of homeless doing their laundry, about 4 grown adults (the kids) and their mom. It was something new to us. Come to think of it, I didn't see any clean clothes, so I think they were washing a blanket, maybe. Anyway, they were colorful and interesting and there were several others as well, but then the oddest of them all walked into the scene. The first thing I noticed was a skirt and combat boots from the back. I also quickly noticed there was no shirt, only long hair over the shoulders and bare back. As they turned I noticed breasts, full sized c cup breasts, but as they continued to turn in my direction I was taken back by the full beard and young mans face. The guy, gal, person was pushing another odd character in a wheelchair. Sweet and I just sat inside browsing a magazine collection of Anarchist mags published a decade past. We finally got the single load washed and dried and as were leaving one of the "grown children" of the family gets into it verbally a little with the bearded lady, so I see the bearded lady push the wheelchair down the sidewalk talking angrily to the person in the chair and the child comes walking past us as we leave "did you see the hooter on him?". I just replied, "ahhh, yah?!" and we kept walking.

July 13 - Our two day time limit had expired, so today we got a few things done in the morning. Then made our way to Jimmy Mac's Overtime Grill to see a jam being put together by Dave Roberts, the drummer that will be playing with us the next day at Argarian Ales. We thought it would be good to get to know him early and maybe even jam a little. Turns out, we didn't get to play with him, but we did do a 4 song set with some other great musicians. Sweet and I really enjoyed ourselves, as did the other players behind us, from what I could tell. And although the crowd, made up primarily of musicians seemed to enjoy our show too. I always feel we don't fit in. Either we're too hard to be real blues, or too bluesy to be rock. Sweet always says, "just do your thing, don't worry about what they think", but I can't seem to do that yet. I hope to get there.

We ended up staying until the place closed and had a nice conversation with some very nice regulars at Overtime, and really thought it was a cool place. The owner Chris was terrific. We thought she was terrific when we assumed she was the waitress, but then Dave the drummer introduced us to the owner - and she was one in the same. She even let us spend the night in the parking lot under 24 hour security. Yah baby.

July 14 - This morning we woke way too early. Found a dog park a few miles away to let the girls run free. Sweet took the girls while I take the time to get our road diary up-to-date. This afternoon at 4PM we are playing at Agrarian Ales. This is going to be outdoors, on a large farm that grows hops and brews ales. Should be a lot of fun. We know there will be other musicians joining us. Looking forward to it. We'll let you know how it goes in the next Road Report.

Brookings Harbor in Brookings Oregon at the Saturday Market sponsored by Chetco Brewing. It was a pleasant day and with plenty of time to browse the vendors, including Smokey that specialized in leather belts. It also provided enough time to enjoy a couple Chetco Brews while listening to solo guitarist Steven, who played before us.

We were very excited to have TIM Bonow, join us for the second show, along with harmonica player Robert from Crescent City. Said he had so much fun jamming with us, he wanted to do it
again. Even talked about joining us again down the road. This was the first time that the only local jammers to join us were drummers. I believe we had an additional 3 drummers join during the show; John, Linda Lou, and Stewart. Stewart owns an RV and is considering joining us on the road for a few gigs. During our last break, another band got up and played 3 songs with our gear, it was cool to hear how the same instruments sounded with other musicians. They rocked it, they are called "Caucasians in Crisis" and the guitarist-singer Mark loaned us one of his powered speakers, which was great for the outdoor space.

The harbor parking lot was huge with ample area to park our rig. There is even a boat wash station which we were able to fill our fresh water tanks. The parking lot does not allow for overnight parking, however you can get temporary overnight permits from the Harbormaster. We were given pne by Chetco Brewing so that we could stay in the lot overnight. We even had the security check on us prior to going in for the night.

Thanks to Chetco Brewing, Cindy, Alex, and all their folks for being so welcoming and professional. AND thanks for the great beer. Also, Thanks to Hula Hula Hawaiian BBQ for the 1/2 off for musicians.

Today we're going to go join the members of Caucaseans in Crisis at the city park for a Beatles Tribute concert, then a gathering of musicians at one of their homes in the afternoon for beers and food. Sounds like another jam to me. We'll see and let you know later. Sweet and I have spent the last two nights free of charge at an amazing state beach in the parking lot overlooking grass and flowers to the beach below and literally dozens of islands offshore. The parking lot is large enough we were able to park nose in on the first night. However, last night we moved all the way to the northern end of the parking lot and were able to park north-to-south with our large windows towards the amazing panoramic view. The parking lot also had trash and recycle bins.

The beach sits directly behind Del Norte Community Airport. The airport only services small planes, and in two days we have only seen two planes. The road is called Pebble Beach at the western end of Washington Blvd, off of Northcrest.
We arrived here on Thursday spent the night, then last night we performed at Port O'Pints Brewery, and it was terrific. Great turn out, great donations collected, really fun crowd, and amazing beer. A big thanks to the musicians that joined us...Tim on drums, Robert on harp, and Buck from Lost Coast Countrymen on slide guitar.

Tonight we are performing at the Brookings Harbor in Brookings Oregon. We were able to get a parking permit from Chetco Brewing the sponsors of the event. I guess it is part of a Saturday Marketplace, so it should be a lot of fun. Either way, I understand we can park our rig and stay all night at the harbor. Sounds good to me. I will give you an update in the next Wild Pack Road Report.
The Brewers & Blues Against Hunger event in Vista California at the Aztec Brewing Company was the first event of the 6-month food drive blues jam tour. The event set the bar very high with a stellar all-star lineup of caring musicians coming together to share their passion for the blues and their commitment to their community. Thank you from the bottom of our heart! See More Thank Yous!
